Long Time No Post

Jacket: Old Navy, Shirt: Ann Taylor LOFT, Scarf: Street Vendor, Pants: Old Navy, Shoes: Nordstrom

I have been borrowing my roommate's camera till I am able to get my own. She took it with her for Thanksgiving, but now I have it back. Sorry for no posts lately!
The holidays were a bit hard for me this year. I moved away from home at 17 and this year was the first time that I was really upset and homesick. I have always been very independent and a "do it on your own"  kinda gal. This year though, I actually cried at the thought of my family celebrating without me there. I suppose I will have to learn to cope though because travelling during the holidays is hectic and expensive! Anyone have any tips? Maybe I will video chat for Christmas.
My boyfriend talked me into going Black Friday shopping in New Jersey. WHOA! That is all I can say. It was the most insane thing I have ever seen.  The sales were amazing, but there was NO way I was going to wait in those lines. Gap had 50% off everything until 10am, the line was literally wrapped around the store twice! Was bummed about that, but I did find a great deal on the shoes above! Nordstrom was easy to manage, very little people and NO lines! Did anyone face their fears of Black Friday??

Early Thanksgiving Among Friends

Sweater: H&M, Leggings: Ann Taylor LOFT, Boots: Kohl's

Today the roommates and I celebrated an early Thanksgiving among some friends. The day was spent cooking, cooking, and more cooking. I have to say though, it was well worth it.

Menu:

Stuffed Celery
Deviled Eggs
Veggies with Ranch Dip
Mango Chutney Glazed Ham
Mashed Sweet Potatoes
Squash Casserole
Brussel Sprouts with Shallots and Bacon

My roommate Liz and I really busted it out today and made an amazing meal. Dessert was prepared by our guests and was smack your momma good! They brought crepe cake with egg custard and chocolate ganache and  pumpkin pie.The table was set so beautifully and the boyfriend did an amazing job picking out yellow roses for some ambiance.

I figured that I would be eating a lot today, so I chose my outfit accordingly. I found this oversized sweater at H&M for $14.95, such a deal. There are so many ways to wear it and I thought it looked fabulous with leggings and over the knee boots.

I wish that I was going to be spending Thanksgiving with my family in Florida, but it is so difficult (not to mention, expensive) to travel during the holidays. They will be in my thoughts though! Any good plans for your Thanksgiving? Favorite Thanksgiving dish??

Things That Make My Heart Go Thump!

Jeffrey Campbell Back Off Wedges

Tinley Road Flap Zip Leather Jacket

Spotted Moth Temptest Jacket

Gap Jacquard Mini

Tinley Road Pleated Top

Some people like to window shop, but I tend to dream through the internet. Living in New York I find myself getting very overwhelmed in stores with all the people and the huge amount of clothing. Every night I oooo and ahhh over pieces I find and get very excited with the fact that they just magically appear on my doormat via UPS. The wait for them almost adds to my excitement and joy as I lay in bed thinking "I can't wait to pair this and this!". The box arrives and I revert back to being 6 years old on Christmas morning! Internet how I love you so!

Above are some pieces I am really in love with at the moment! I tend to watch them until they go on sale as I am on a very limited budget at the moment. The Jeffrey Campbell Back Off boots are ALWAYS out of stock and never go on sale, but a girl can dream right?? I saw a girl wearing these boots one night at a concert and I of course probably scared her by running over to her and going "omg those are such beautiful boots, where oh where are they from!?". She was nice though, and very cute...pairing them with a flowy white top and sequin shorts.

This season there is so much texture...love love love! I think that the Tinley Road pleated top would look so beautiful with the Gap textured mini. I am also loving the dark, rich colors and find myself wearing a lot of black, gray and navy in the winter.

Being from Florida, I relish the fact that for 2 seasons I get to layer and wear beautiful jackets! This leather jacket would make me feel so hot and confident whereas the shearling coat would make me feel cosy and warm. So much to choose from this season, can I please win the lottery now? (I guess I should play! Although, the boyfriend did win $4 on a scratch off...only $999,996 would make it so much better!)

Too-da-loo guys! Hope you have a great weekend!!

The Leaves Have Fallen

Forever21 Dress, Shoes & Shirt

I recently found this dress at Forever 21 and didn't know exactly how I wanted to wear it. I finally came across this post from Keira at A Pretty Penny and loved how she layered the t-shirt underneath. Luckily, the weather has been just right and I was able to get away with not wearing tights. I have been really loving the whole ankle sock look and I got brave enough to try it out today. Unfortunately, I only could find black in my drawer, but I will definitely be investing in multiple colors in the near future. I do have to say though that I am in LOVE with these clogs! They don't look like they would be comfortable, but they are and they make me feel so good when I wear them.

This weekend I was so happy to find an affordable thrift store in my neighborhood (Upper East Side, on 1st ave between 87th and 88th). I have been on a mission to find a metallic backpack and I totally scored! I jumped for joy when I saw the price tag was $5, woohoo! I also found a pair of boots for $5 as well.

Hope you guys had a great weekend!

A Day in the Park

Forever 21 shirt, H&M jacket (2009), uniqlo skinny jeans (2008), over-the-knee riding boots (Kohl's)

Bare with me till I am able to purchase better camera...but oh well! I am very lucky to work for a fantastic woman that is willing to take my picture for me! (Thanks, Al!!) Thursday we spent the day at Hippo Playground with the kids (I work in a house with 7 kids, yes 7). The weather was amazing and the kids were ecstatic, Mcdonalds always does the trick!

This is not my favorite outfit, but I thought hey...I need to practice these posts! Trying to get my god daughter, Ileana, to cooperate in the first picture was not the easiest feat. That baby has a mind of her own, a quality I LOVE about her. When it was time to go she absolutely refused...refused. You know when your mom would pull that trick of "alright...we are gonna leave...see ya later!" and you would fall for it every time??? Well, not this little one. She stood her ground, arms crossed and all. She does not fall for these tricks. I love her for that!

                      Too-da-loo all! :)
